Annual parking permits for the WSU Pullman campus are available for renewal now through July 11 and general sales begin July 20.

Customers can purchase available permits online by logging into their WSU parking account.

Residence hall students are not eligible to renew. Please see the Residence hall crimson priority sale or open permit section below.

Students living in residence halls this fall who wish to purchase a Crimson permit should see the residence hall crimson priority sale section below for additional information.

Did you return your permit due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

Permits returned due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be available for renewal now through 5 pm July 11.

All vehicle information must be updated.

To review and/or update vehicle information on a parking account:

• Go to wsu.edu.
• Click “Login” in the top right-hand corner.
• Log in with WSU network ID and password.
• Click on “Permits” on the left-hand side.
• Click “View” for current permit.
• Review associated vehicles.

From here changes can be made to current vehicles, and new vehicle information can be added to specific permits.

The process described above is for updating vehicle information only. This will NOT renew a permit. Permits will still need to be renewed online during the renewal period.

University apartment permits

Members of the WSU community getting a university apartment permit will NOT be required to show vehicle registration to activate a permit.

Permit eligibility will still be based on verification of an appropriate active university apartment contract.

Customers will need to log into their WSU parking account beginning July 13, 2021 to get a university apartment permit.

Non-residence hall permit renewals: 10 a.m., June 15, through 5 p.m., July 11, 2021

• In this phase, current eligible permit holders may:
  • Renew a current permit.
  • Purchase a different available zone permit.
• Customers can purchase available permits online by logging into their WSU parking account.

Residence hall crimson priority sale: 10 a.m., July 13, through 5 p.m., July 18, 2021

• During the priority sale, qualifying residents may purchase their Crimson permit.
• Residents eligible for this sale will be contacted directly via a separate email.
• Residents who do not qualify for the crimson priority sale can purchase an available permit during open permit sales.

Open permit sales: 10 a.m., July 20, 2021

General permits:

• In this phase eligible patrons may purchase any available permit and add themselves to requested waitlists.
• Customers will purchase available permits online by logging into their WSU parking account.

Residence hall permits:

• In this phase residents with an active residence hall housing contract (i.e. Hillside, Northside, and Southside) can purchase an available residence hall permit.
• Residents may only purchase Crimson, Gray or Blue permits. The residence hall a student lives in will determine which Crimson or Gray permit they are eligible to purchase (i.e. Crimson 1, 2, 3, or 4, or Gray 1or 2)
• Customers will purchase available permits online by logging into their WSU parking account.

A valid WSU Network ID is required to purchase a WSU parking permit. If a customer has lost or forgotten their network ID, they can retrieve it online at https://login.wsu.edu/ or by calling the Crimson Service Desk at 509-335-HELP (4357).

In addition, primary mailing addresses that are registered with the university should be correct/current. Mailing addresses can be checked through the “MyWSU” system.

Parking rates for the 2021/2022 academic and fiscal year which are effective July 1, 2021, can be found at the link below.  These new parking rates were intended to take effect last year, but were deferred due to the COVID pandemic.

2021/2022 Parking Rates 

The increase in rates are necessary to continue the cycle of facility maintenance projects recently delayed by COVID19-related funding shortages, but needed to ensure safety and serviceability of the facilities.    

The WSU Pullman campus parking system is comprised of four multi-level parking garages with elevators. Each garage is located below a building.  There are also 123 paved surface parking locations.  Estimated 10-year maintenance costs include $4.5M for garages, $5.5M for parking lots, and $4.1M for garage elevators.

Ten Year Deferred Capital Asset Preservation List

The new parking rates, which were deferred one year due to the COVID pandemic, were reviewed and endorsed by the 15-member University Parking and Transportation Task Force (UPTTF) and approved by the Board of Regents at their May 7, 2021 meeting and apply to the Pullman campus only.

Transportation Services is a self-supported auxiliary and does not receive federal, state, grant or tuition funding. Revenue for capital projects, maintenance, and operations comes solely from parking fees and fines. Transportation Services is tasked with financing, managing and maintaining parking facilities as well as facilitating and promoting transportation options on the WSU Pullman campus.

The main objective of the UPTTF is to have an established internal review process that provides WSU with a campus wide perspective and broad representation on parking and transportation issues.

Parking patrons are encouraged to consider alternatives to driving alone such as biking, walking, transit, carpooling, etc. For more information and personal assistance regarding alternatives, check out the Coug Commute Advisor program.

WSU Transportation Services wants to inform customers that several parking lots on campus will be closed this fall and winter. The decision to temporarily close parking lots has been made due the budget impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the lack of demand for parking. Closing these lots will not only reduce expenses for snow removal, it will also reduce expenses for necessary lot maintenance in the spring.

Some select parking lots will be closed completely, and others will be signed as “No snow maintenance”. The “No snow maintenance” lots will remain open for use, but will not be plowed during or after snow events.

Each parking lot was strategically selected to continue to ensure adequate customer parking as well as to realize savings on maintenance and snow removal costs.

Pullman, WA – Washington State University Pullman Transportation Services has announced that a new parking app has officially launched on campus, making remote parking payment even more convenient for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The app, called AMP (Aims Mobile Pay), is a mobile payment solution providing ultimate convenience to motorists. App users may pay for parking with their iPhone or Android devices. They can then receive a reminder when their parking is about to expire and may add more time if needed, all without having to walk to their vehicle.

To download the app, simply search “AMP Park” in Google Play or in the Apple store. Once downloaded, a quick registration process walks the user through setting up their profile, vehicle information, and payment. When ready to park, users simply indicate their parking zone, choose a duration and confirm payment.

Similar to the University’s annual and daily parking permits, there is no need to display a physical permit on your vehicle since the system uses license plate recognition to read the vehicle license plate as the permit.

Account information such as license plate additions, payment detail modifications, and changes to notification settings can be managed directly on the app or on the AMP website.

As the majority WSU students, faculty, staff, and visitors, will not be coming to campus on a regular basis due to COVID-19, buying an annual parking permit may not be the most economical option. The AMP app will make it easy for those who need to come to campus periodically to park for a couple of hours or even the day.  

The AMP app is currently available in sixteen parking locations throughout the WSU Pullman campus, including select parking lots, metered spaces and parking garages. WSU Transportation Services may add additional mobile pay parking locations in the future.

Beginning Monday, June 15, 2020, payment and parking permits will be required on the Pullman campus.

Gray Parking Zones: Gray parking zones are open to all valid WSU permits, except blue, motorcycle and moped permits, and university-owned apartment parking area permits.

Crimson Parking Zones: Crimson, orange, and green permits are valid in crimson zones during summer session.

Other parking zones: Permits are required in orange, green, yellow, red, blue parking areas.

Daily Parking Permits: Daily parking permits are available to purchase online. Daily zone parking permits will be offered at half price until August 14, 2020.
